Tucked in the northwest corner of Italy, the Fontana family has been producing wine in Piedmont's Monforte D'Alba, in the heart of the Langhe since 1820! In 1994, Mario Fontana inherited some small parcels of incredible old-vine vineyards from his Grandpa, and set off to convert them to organic farming (a rarity in the region). He married Luisa -- the daughter of Bartolo Mascarello (perhaps the most renowned winemaker in all of Piedmont) -- and they teamed up to fully form Cascina Fontana.

Mario & Luisa own 10 acres of vineyards in Castiglione Falletto, La Morra and Sinio. These are wines made in the old school way, yet there's a laser-like balance and approachability to the wines as well. We'll be tasting their juicy and delicious Dolcetto, their brambly and uber complex Barbera and one of the most serious Langhe Nebbiolos we've ever tasted. We'll also be tasting their mind-bending 2018 Barolo, as well as their 2017 Barolo of magnum! To add to the festivities we'll be pouring some fun bubbles form Silvano Follador!

Come taste the wines Antonio Galloni said "reminds [him] of the super-traditoinal Barolos I tasted with my father when I was a child:1! Out friend and newly minted advanced sommelier Rick Stiles of Grand Cru Selections will be here to taste and talk about all things Barolo!
