Buddy Buddy Tasting w/ Cassidy Miller @ Vine July 7th

Some winemakers are as fun to meet as their wines are to drink... and this is definitely the case for Cassidy Miller - winemaker, forklifter, arm-wrestler, designer, and all around badass behind the Berkeley-based Buddy Buddy Wines & Ciders.

Cassidy started Buddy Buddy in 2020, in the midst of pandemic uncertainty, and thrived despite all of the challenges that came her way. A particularly bad fire season led to a loss of fruit, but that didn't hinder her spirit. Instead, she decided to throw apples and pears into the mix - leading to her first vintage, which was entirely what the authorities (TTB) are calling "Fruit Wines" - blends of grapes and non-grape fruits. In her case, apples and pears!

In addition to managing her own production, Cassidy is also the Assistant Winemaker at Vinca Minor Wines. Watching her in the winery is like watching a chef in the kitchen - constantly tasting, experimenting, and having fun with her canvas of juice. She plays around with blends until she finds just the right mix, and never shies away from trying something new.

Her first vintage was such a hit, she doubled her production last year, and released her first single-fruit (GRAPES ONLY!!) expression of Clarksburg Chenin (a CHEN-SATION! as we like to call it). She works with only sustainable and organic fruit, and practices minimal intervention in the cellar, meaning spontaneous ferments, no fining/filtering, and little to no sulfur additions. The line up is fun, flirty, high-toned, quaffable, perfect summer wines.
