Time to join us here in this new century, friends, and think outside the bottle! Cans are more environmentally friendly than bottles in (at least) two ways: 1) aluminum's more likely to be recycled than glass. 2) Cans weigh less, which cuts down on transport-related carbon emissions and reduces their overall carbon-footprint.
That said? None of that matters if you don't put delicious wine in those eco-smart cylinders!

Awww: poor English language: it only wishes it had a word for "the drink you have after work with friends that eases you out of brain constriction and into the ease of amity and sensory delight." The Japanese, though, have no such poverty: they have 'nomikai.'
The goal of Nomikai cans was to make exactly that — and rising star natural winemakers Megan and Ryan Glaab of Ryme Cellars ensured that it was as delicious as it was eco-smart. The 187ml can makes a perfect single-serving size, it's rated 99.99% recyclable, and the contents, most importantly (in this case a bright blend of Merlot and Mourvedre), are 100% sluggable. Light on its feet (only 12.4% ABV), this is a fun, fresh, herbaceous red to drink all summer long.
